Note: In accordance with the Block Watch Bylaws, meeting minutes are being recorded and retained. In accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order, the minutes contain only the date, time, place of meeting and attendance. Accordingly, Neighborhood Events, General Meeting and More will be published with each meeting’s agenda. The opportunity to connect with our neighbors is just too good to pass up. When we remember and it strikes us as important, the date and time of events will be provided.

Ed Dziuk, Chair, contacted the Public Works office to inquire of rumors regarding our alley trash pickup changing to curb side pickup. Robert Lopez, a Public Works Lead Solid Waste Environmental Specialist stopped by and visited with Eleanor. He said that there is no substance to the rumor.

Mr. Curiel gave a presentation about new standards for what’s recyclable and what’s not. He handed out posters. Anyone who missed the presentation or didn’t get a poster contact Eleanor to obtain one. Mr. Curiel also explained that things that gum up the sorting equipment like the small caps on drinking water bottles are what they want to avoid. He answered questions and concerns and will take your calls or emails at 602.534.8193/ john.curiel@phoenix.gov city_phx

Ed introduced Kathleen French, Field Organizer from Nextdoor.com. Ms. French explained Nextdoor.com is a social network exclusively for neighborhoods. Ed informed us of the equipment, tools and items procured through the Block Watch City Grant. Neighbors are welcome to sign out equipment for their personal use. An officer will take a receipt for the equipment and an agreement regarding the time and date of its return.
